Jamie Oliver made a global commitment in 2013 to the Good Chicken Award for fresh chicken and ingredient, in 2017 the Good Chicken Award criteria was updated in line with the European Chicken Commitment/Better Chicken Commitment with the additional asks of a slower growing breed and controlled atmosphere stunning which are key to improved welfare. Jamie Oliver have not yet made a commitment to the ECC/BCC.
"We are super excited to be receiving such an important award from Compassion. I'm so proud that animal welfare is a top priority for Jamie and my colleagues across the business in media, restaurants and retail. Getting animal welfare right is never easy, cheap or straightforward, but we all recognise it as key to running a successful and responsible business."
Daniel Nowland, Head of Technical, Jamie Oliver Ltd. (2017)
"We are really proud to receive our fourth animal welfare award from Compassion in World Farming. All of us at the Jamie Oliver Group build high standards of sourcing into everything we do, and probably don't shout loud enough about the lengths we go to. Dairy is an often under told story and many consumers fail to understand the importance of welfare, quality and sustainability in this sector. I'd like to extend my thanks to Yeo Valley for their efforts to protect quality British Dairy Farming and championing the benefits of organics, as well as their continued support of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation."
Daniel Nowland, Head of Technical - Jamie Oliver Ltd. (2015)
"As a company we are involved with food and farming at so many levels, from products we buy and use, to what we write about in our books. Whatever we do, we push for better animal welfare standards at every level - not just in the UK, but globally too. I send guys from my team all over the world to get to the bottom of farming and sustainability issues, and to look for and point out opportunities for improvement. We don't make sacrifices anywhere or for anyone - if it's not up to scratch, something has to be done.
My recent partnership with Australian supermarket chain Woolworths has just kicked off, with an amazing commitment from them to phase out all caged eggs and improve the welfare standard for their entry-level chicken across all their stores by the end of 2018. I can't tell you how pleased I am to be a part of helping people make better, more informed, food choices - and on this scale, too.
Our standards for welfare and sustainability are at the heart of our business. We really value our relationship with Compassion In World Farming, and it's brilliant to be working with a team who share a lot of the same values. It's also fantastic to see many other big companies making similar commitments in these areas too."

"I partnered with Moy Park because I wanted to find a partner that I could trust and that was big enough to effect change in the whole of the UK. Although I am committed as ever with organic and free-range, what I'm really passionate about is raising the bar of standard chicken to a completely different level, that's affordable, accessible, and that I would feed to my own kids.
We've worked with Compassion in World Farming and Moy Park to get welfare right up which I am really proud of and developed a range of chicken recipes that are really simple to cook and will give people the confidence to get more involved with dynamic cooking."
